2. From 28th November (the opening) to 16th of January, Weaving Voices project results are exhibited in the Gallery of The Bookstore:
https://bookstoreproject.nl/pleinkamer/#galerie .
Exhibition materials: the freestyle tapestry, one or two eco printed fabrics, project photos, the Szalatnak video, and a project’s sound file.
Additionally, there will be looms with weavings in progress, by Rosa Smith’s handcraft group that she practise with regularly there. Besides weaving, she has started to introduce them to singing and perhaps one new work will come out of this, in the form of a recording.
Communication:
The flyer and poster for the WV exhibition are not ready yet but will come very soon. The event will be mentioned in the newsletter of the foundation (big network), there will be a facebook event and it will be posted on instragram: https://www.instagram.com/the_bookstorefoundation/. Besides that I will share it myself in my newsletter and instagram, and personally among friends.
List of attendees
I would like to understand better why and how important it is to have everyone’s email (is it for the book and use of photo’s after?), name and signature. At the opening, I can then explain this to visitors and ask them to sign the list.
Part I. by Nina van Hartskamp
Weaving Voices Featured in “Stories from the Dye Garden” during Slotervaart BuurtFest
Slotervaart, Amsterdam – September 7th, 2024: The Weaving Voices Project will take center stage at the “Stories from the Dye Garden” event during the Slotervaart BuurtFest on September 7th, 2024. This event will feature a hands-on workshop led by artist Nina van Hartskamp. Drawing inspiration from her involvement in the Weaving Voices project, Nina will invite the Slotervaart community to create a collaborative textile artwork using flowers from the dye garden. The piece will also integrate fabrics dyed during the Weaving Voices project and Nina’s participation in the Into The Woods Festival, organized by Solsidans Kulturförening.
In addition to the workshop, the community artwork “Weaving Voices: Slotervaart in Transition,” developed by Rosa Smits and Nina van Hartskamp during their residency at Bureau Postjesweg as part of the Weaving Voices project, will be on display. This installation invites visitors to explore the ongoing dialogue about gentrification in Slotervaart, enhanced by audio stories collected during their residency, offering personal perspectives on the community’s transformation.
The “Stories from the Dye Garden” event is part of the larger Slotervaart BuurtFest, a celebration of local culture and community.
